Glory Denied – An Opera in Two Acts
October 1 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
$57 – $77
Directed by Alexandra Dietrich
Alexandra Dietrich, from Freeport, Maine, is a Puerto Rican known for her work as a stage director, mezzo-soprano, and social justice advocate, whose direction has been called “brilliant” and “moving”.
Glory Denied is a poignant saga that takes place during the Vietnam War, based on the true story of Colonel Jim Thompson, America’s longest-held prisoner of war.
This profoundly moving story and soaring score by one of America’s leading classical voice composers, Tom Cipullo, tells Thompson’s story through younger and older versions of Thompson and his wife, Alyce, who traverse this complex emotional landscape through hope, despair, love, hate, courage, and forgiveness.
Peter Kendall Clark, Brandon Snook, Meredith Lustig and Megan Pachecano round out our cast for this opera in two acts.
