The Gate House
Our Inn’s Victorian treasure is the Gate House. Built in 1906, the Queen Anne-style building is adorned with elaborate woodwork, stained-glass windows, and a porte-cochere. The Gate House is located about half a block from the Main House, on the corner of Stewart Lane and Route 7, and it houses five cozy rooms, ideal for a quick getaway or for a family looking to gather together. Like all of our accommodations, each room is unique, with its own distinct personality. Consider renting the whole building so your family and friends can have the place all to yourself.
A large sitting area with a wood-burning fireplace is perfect for chatting with family and friends or playing a board game. In the warmer months, relax in one of the rocking chairs on the wrap-around porch and enjoy a cold glass of lemonade. Also located on the first floor of the Gate House is a coffee station and an ample supply of our homemade cookies, so guests are never far from the things they need.
The complimentary full breakfast is served just a short walk up the hill at Jessica’s restaurant in the Main House. Every day we offer a choice of fruits, yogurt, and daily baked goods, including our legendary house-made Swift House Inn granola, as well as hot entrees like French toast, fluffy buttermilk pancakes, oatmeal, and eggs cooked to order.
Due to the Gate House’s location, the rooms in this building may not be the best choice for our guests who are light sleepers. We can help you choose the room that best suits your needs.
