Antique shops are dotted throughout Vermont on main thoroughfares, on small side roads, and in charming downtown storefronts. The towns and roads near Middlebury are bursting with stores, jewel boxes and old-fashioned digs alike.
If you’re based in Middlebury, Vermont or staying at Swift House Inn, we’ve put together a list of seven nearby antique shops to visit.
CobWeb Antiques

The newest addition to Middlebury’s antique scene is also the easiest to visit from Swift House Inn. CobWeb Antiques opened on Main Street in late 2025, filling its downtown storefront with an eclectic collection of vintage Americana, old signs and license plates, memorabilia, glassware, collectibles and other curiosities. It’s an easy stop while exploring downtown Middlebury—and a good place to browse if you like the unpredictable treasure-hunt side of antiquing.
Stone Block Antiques

Location: 219 Main Street, Vergennes, VT 05491
What Sets It Apart: Beautifully curated treasures for refined tastes.
Stone Block Antiques is located on Main Street, a charming storefront with two huge display windows. Stone Block’s motto: “Beauty is a timeless and conforming pursuit” is well reflected inside the store, where stunning specialty pieces abound—plush Oriental rugs, Japanese sideboards, brass sculptures, and multiple sets of vintage chairs. The store is beautifully curated, and wandering around it is a treat. When you’re finished, head down the block to Vergennes Laundry Épicerie and Cafe for another. At times, the prices can be quite high, but the quality is worth it.
Sweet Charity: An Interesting Resale Shop

Location: 141A Main Street, Vergennes, VT 05491
What Sets It Apart: Like the name implies, Sweet Charity is all about helping the community. It began as a way for a local women’s organization, Women of Wisdom, to pool together resources and provide affordable and adorable home goods for those in need. They also accept donations and can provide a truck to pick up items.
Inside Sweet Charity, you’ll find affordable glassware, lamps, pots for plants, costume jewelry, books, records, furniture, clothes, and so much more. The best part is the convivial, warm and welcoming atmosphere, brought to you by store manager Lauren LaBerge Taddeo, in which to slowly browse, explore, and discover!
Your Home

Location: 9 Main Street, Bristol, VT 05443
What Sets It Apart: Your Home is tucked into a yellow storefront in Bristol, where the ornate, colorful buildings give Main Street a distinctly Victorian flavor. There’s an enormous bowl of buttons to dig through and chalk paint colors to contemplate.
The good pricing on vintage items is a well-kept secret among Middlebury college students with a care for aesthetics and apartments to decorate. You’ll find a mix of high and low end items, with a clothing section to boot, and most of it sourced from within Vermont. The used clothing section in the back offers shoes, bags, belts, and a dressing room. Afterwards, be sure to also check out the super well curated vintage clothing boutique Silkworm and grab a hunk of yummy fresh-baked bread from Minifactory.
Across the Street

Location: 12 Center Street, Brandon, VT 05733
What Sets It Apart: Across the Street contains more than a century’s worth of treasures. You could spend an entire afternoon gazing at all the tchotchkes spanning the decades.
If you’re looking for something in particular, owners Joel and Janet Mondlak will happily try to source it for you. But there’s a good chance that this extremely well stocked antique boutique will have it somewhere in there. You’ll also find brass baby shoes, big old wooden radios, ancient photos of people you don’t know and aren’t related to, glass bowls, Christmas ornaments, and oh so much more! The owners of Swift House Inn bought an excellent antique basket for harvesting vegetables from Across the Street. Afterwards, be sure to grab a sandwich at Morningside Bakery, which is well worth the 30-minute drive south from Middlebury.
Vermont Used Furniture

Location: 315 Maple Street, Salisbury, VT 05769
What Sets It Apart: Vermont Used Furniture is your source for good, well-crafted furniture that won’t break your bank brought to you by Tim & Debbie Holmes and their two big dogs.
The owners of Swift House Inn check this antique furniture store regularly for pieces that will complete the traditional New England feel of their hotel. You’ll find incredibly well-made four-poster beds, dining chairs, side tables, dressers, and more. Be sure to stop and pet the dogs, too! It’s a bit off the beaten path, but well worth the drive for the quintessential Vermont experience that it provides.
Ardesh

Location: 3093 Shelburne Road, Shelburne, VT 05482
What Sets It Apart: Ardesh flaunts a decidedly global point of view. Danial Ardesh is a knowledgable expert on china, antiques, rugs, and paintings.
Swift House Inn loves to shop for pieces at this fine boutique filled with incredible antiques from around the world. There are Oriental screens and rugs, mid-century modern lamps and dining sets, African scultpures and masks, Staffordshire dogs for your mantle and so much more. The owners of Swift House purchased a dresser from Ardesh that is currently being used in one of the guest rooms.
Barge Canal Market

Location: 377 Pine Street, Burlington, VT 05401
What Sets It Apart: Barge Canal Market is a cool and youthful antique shop with well-curated and interesting finds.
We wouldn’t have included this shop because it’s so far north from Middlebury, but Danial Ardesh insisted that we checked it out. And we weren’t sorry! There were lots of beautiful potted plants, hanging textile arts, mid-century modern furniture and art, and so much more. We also loved the clothes and the patio furniture.

These are terrific places. We also like Champlain Valley Antique Center in Shelburne. Lots to explore in this area!

CobWeb Antiques on Main Street in Middlebury is one of the best antique stores I've been too in a long time. I've been to a couple of others on this list and they don't compare to CobWeb.
