The cherished musical, Sound of Music, brought us the song “My Favorite Things.” Did you sing that when you were young? “Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens. Brown paper packages tied up with strings. These are a few of my favorite things.” What are your favorite things about Christmas? Perhaps your list includes presents, being with family, lights and decorations, snow, milk and cookies, or Christmas dinner. For some around our neck of the woods, their list includes the Chocolate Walk in downtown Bristol, VT!
Bristol is a charming town, just a quick 20-minute jaunt away from our inn in Middlebury. It is a neighboring community similar to ours in offering guests a lot of different events and activities to attend throughout the year. Cool Yule is an annual holiday celebration that they put on during the entire month of December. In addition to concerts, events, bazaars, and late night shopping, a favorite of many is the Chocolate Walk that is held on the first or second Friday every year. This year the Chocolate Walk will be held December 2, 2016 so mark your calendars now and plan a trip over!
The Chocolate Walk, which will take place from 4pm – 10pm, starts with a map that will take you from store to store. At each store you will have the opportunity to sample complimentary, decadent chocolate treats while you do some Christmas shopping. Participating businesses will have a “Chocolate Stop” sign so you’ll know exactly where to go. It is just one of those events that will lift your spirits, put some holiday cheer into your step and allow you to satisfy those sweet tooth cravings.
It is a wonderful time of year to take a vacation to Vermont and our inn is the perfect choice for accommodations. Our suites are in three historic buildings and we are just minutes away from the village center. Relax by the fire, enjoy a drink at our cozy bar, enjoy a myriad of outdoor adventures nearby or just escape from the hustle and bustle in your private suite. Book online today!
