While most of us have turkey and all of the Thanksgiving fixings on our minds as that holiday is just a few days away, we would be missing the boat if we didn’t give you a heads up on what is coming to Middlebury for Christmas! Our gorgeous area of Vermont truly comes alive for the holidays—stores and restaurants cheerfully display the spirit of the season, Christmas parades and lighting ceremonies take place, historic homes get decorated and open for holiday tours, and the winter landscape provides the perfect backdrop for a myriad of outdoor activities. For us, it’s all about Very Merry Middlebury—the holiday extravaganza that comes around every year!

Very Merry Middlebury is the annual Christmas season event that takes over the entire month of December. All over town you will find adorable character cut outs, which make perfect additions for cute family pictures. Ten local stores downtown will be participating in the “I Spy Contest” so be on the lookout for hidden ornaments so you can enter to win $100 in Middlebury Money. Santa arrives (via fire truck) on December 3, 2016—make a visit with Ol’ Saint Nick and then enjoy a free horse drawn wagon ride with your family or loved one.

You’ll definitely want to be downtown the evening of December 8th, 2016 as stores stay open late and offer all kinds of sales and discounts for holiday shoppers. Enjoy live music, free tastings, Christmas caroling and more. From 9:30am – 2:00pm each day the Cocoa Hut in Cannon Park will open offering 25cent cups of hot cocoa and don’t forget that 51 Main will be offering free gift wrapping noon – 4pm each day, you just have to show your receipt.

There will be many more activities going on this season – visit the website for regular updates. When you book your holiday getaway at our charming bed and breakfast, we can help you plan the perfect Vermont vacation. Tis’ the season to be merry and we’d love for you to spend it with us!
