Do you have any special fall traditions that you either grew up doing with your family as a child or have started with your own? The fall season is one that seems to bring out many traditions, whether it be color tour drives, baking anything and everything with apples and pumpkins, favorite walks and hikes, or visiting local orchards for fresh-fruit picking, hay rides, and fall festivals. Our guests just love coming to visit Vermont in the fall when the temperatures are cooler yet comfortable, the colors are popping, and places like Boyers Orchard and Cider Mill have all of their delicious goodies for sale.
Boyers Orchard and Cider Mill is just a half-hour down the road in a quaint town called Monkton, VT. This is a place that is full of tradition. Not only has it been family owned and run for many years, it is a place where locals and visitors have brought their families year after year. You’ll hear stories of people going apple-picking as children and who are now bringing their own children for the same memory-making experience. Boyers is a really unique place in that they offer more than just the typical orchard.
First is the orchard—they grow and sell over 50 varieties of apples and plums, pears and tart cherries. They also grow pumpkins, corn, beans, squash, tomatoes, carrots, broccoli, peppers, kale, and cabbage in their beautiful gardens. Next comes the bakery, which produces one of the most popular, crowd-drawing treat in the state—the cider donut. During the apple season only, which is from early September through the end of October, the bakery puts out mouth-watering cider donuts made fresh every day. There is nothing like enjoying a warm cider donut with a glass of fresh-pressed sweet apple cider. Delish! Last but not least is the Sugar House. Here they produce maple syrup, which is open in the spring, but in the fall the Sugar House is home to their tasting room where you can try a delicious hard or ice cider. They offer semi-dry, champagne style, bourbon barrel aged, and sweet ice ciders. The tasting room is open on weekends, September – November, from 9:30am – 5pm. The staff is friendly, the goodies are tasty and you may even get lucky and have Mr. Boyer give you a behind the scenes tour of the gardens and the orchards.
Come on out and get a taste of Vermont—at the orchard and with a stay at our charming bed and breakfast. We’d love to host you for a memorable fall getaway! Book online today or contact us for further information.
