Lincoln Peak Vineyard is One of the Finest in Vermont

One of the things we love about having a bed and breakfast in Middlebury, VT is the opportunity to meet so many other local business owners who have a passion for serving the community just as we do. Whether at the stores downtown, local farms, or wineries, you will encounter a special group of people–one who couldn’t be happier to be settled right here in Vermont, doing what they love for the community. The Granstrom family are one of those types of people—they are the backbone behind Lincoln Peak Vineyard; a special winery right here in Middlebury that we highly encourage you to check out during your next visit.

The story of Lincoln Peak begins with Chris Granstrom, when he heard about a fantastic variety of wine grapes that were hardy enough to withstand the Vermont winters. After planting a few grapevine cuttings in 2001, Chris found they grew and that they grew well. The family made their first batch of commercial wine in 2006 and is now the largest grape producers in the state. From the grapes grown on their farm, they make 25,000 bottles of wine a year and have won medals and awards.

You will find their tasting room elegant, warm, and inviting and their hospitality is just outstanding. Tastings cost $5, which includes a souvenir wine glass to keep and they have a great selection of local cheeses and crackers to snack on. The hosts are very friendly and knowledgeable and can help you find the exact wine for your specific palate. It’s like they just know how to match the right wine to the right person. If you enjoy your tastings you can purchase a bottle, half case or full case before you leave.
