What are your favorite holiday traditions? If we took a poll we can imagine we would hear similar stories of singing certain songs, baking a favorite cookie recipe that has been handed down a few generations, putting certain ornaments on the tree every year, or attending holiday events as a family. Traditions are important to keep alive and here in Middlebury, we have been enjoying the wonderful tradition of A Very Merry Middlebury for several years now.
Holiday magic truly comes alive during A Very Merry Middlebury, which began December 1st, 2015 and will continue throughout the rest of the month. The whole month is full of fun, festive activities for the whole family. We wanted to give you the run down so you can be sure to plan your time accordingly should you be coming in to our inn for a holiday getaway.
First, all around town you will find creative and fun cutouts—perfect for holiday pictures. Look for a nutcracker, Santa, gingerbread men, and snowmen. Next, this weekend, on December 5th, the whole month kicks off with a visit from ol’ St. Nick himself. He’ll be riding in on a fire truck and then available for visits. Families can take wagon rides, do some holiday shopping (with free gift wrapping!) and get warmed up at The Hot Cocoa Hut.
If you are one who procrastinates with holiday shopping, you’ll want to come downtown Middlebury on December 10th when all shops will be open later than usual and will be offering great sales, discounts, and giveaways. You can also take in some live performances, Christmas caroling, and an outdoor viewing of “It’s a Wonderful Life.” December 13th brings a delicious pancake breakfast with Santa and tickets for that are available online.
There is tons of fun to be had this month and you can find all of the details on the event website. Don’t delay in booking your suite at the inn for the holidays—we would love to celebrate Christmas with you!
