Horseback Riding: Outdoor Fun in Vermont

Group of men and women riding horses along a dirt trail, tall trees on both sides of path.
On a trip to our gorgeous area of Vermont you will find a myriad of things to do no matter what you enjoy. There are fantastic restaurants to try, concerts to take in, shops and galleries to take in and then you have all of the outdoor adventures such as biking, hiking, fly fishing, kayaking, swimming, and more. One activity that may be right up your alley and provide a relaxing day out is some horseback riding nearby.
Close to our inn we have several stables that offer horseback riding services. Here in central Vermont we are surrounded by the
beautiful rolling hills of the Champlain Valley and the majestic Green Mountains so any ride outdoors will be a truly scenic adventure.
If you are a beginner and would like to boost your confidence on a horse before taking on a longer trail ride, we suggest visiting
Salisbury Station Stable. Owner Ellie Bishop offers half hour or one-hour lessons to the first time rider or even advanced riders. Learn riding techniques and how to brush and tack your own horse. About 45-minutes away from us is the Mountain Top Equestrian Center.  They offer several different trail rides ranging from 1 hour to 3 hours with a picnic lunch depending on your level of experience. They also have TGIF Fun Rides and Sundays in the Saddle, both of which are one hour rides at only $35 per person.
Last we want to tell you about Pond Hill Ranch—a wonderful ranch open seven days a week and only 40 minutes away from our inn. This 2000-acre ranch in the heart of the mountains offers some fantastic scenery for a relaxing trail ride. They accommodate and level of experience and offers lessons as well.
After a day on the trails you can come back to your home away from home and enjoy coffee in the gardens, wine by the fire or ease tired muscles in our steam room and sauna.
We are the perfect summer getaway destination—book your room online today!
