Gear up for the 2015 Vermont Venture Outdoor Challenge!

The arrival of spring brings new life, beauty, a change of pace, a chance to get outdoors, and a deep sigh of relief that winter has come and is finally gone. We could spend a whole page here describing how beautiful our corner of Vermont is during every season really, but we wanted to highlight a unique adventure starting this spring that you may be interested in if you are up for a challenge.

The Vermont Venture Outdoor Challenge is an annual statewide event that starts April 15, 2015 and will continue through October 15, 2015. It is essentially a massive scavenger hunt perfect for people who love to travel, explore, spend time outdoors, and try new experiences. It is a perfect way for a family to spend time together or a great thing to do if you are just looking for an excuse to learn more about and see more of Vermont.

The best part is that it is totally free! All that you have to do is download a score sheet, make your way around to several spots around Vermont, and receive points for participating in a myriad of fun activities. Some of the activities on the score card include riding your bike on a rail trail (Swift House Inn owner Dan Brown loves to bike so he can definitely tell you where to do that one!), go trail running, go for a hike, swim in a lake, go river tubing, and catch a fish. All of these can be done right around us in Middlebury, VT. You need to take photos along the way and when you have received 250 points, you can turn in your photos and your score sheet for a VIP gold coin that allows you free state park entry for rest of this year and all of next. Now that is a pretty awesome reward!

If you are up for some spring or summer “adventure-ing” or perhaps just a place to spend a romantic getaway the Swift House Inn is a charming Vermont Country Inn that offers privacy, comfort and a true at-home feel.
