South Burlington, VT, located along the shores of the beautiful Lake Champlain is the perfect setting for the Lake Champlain Maritime Festival. This summer highlight event celebrates the past, present and future of this fantastic area and the Burlington Waterfront. This year marks the 8th anniversary for the Maritime Festival, which will take place August 7-10, 2014, and each time it comes around it just gets better and better. It has actually been named a Top Ten Vermont Summer Event by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce and a Top 100 North American Event by the American Bus Association–proof that this is one that you will not want to miss!
During the four-day celebration, you can expect a host of wonderful activities, things to do, places to see and people to meet. It is truly a family-friendly event where all ages will find something that grabs their attention. Hundreds of exhibits will be showcased along the waterfront so you can stroll along and take your time checking them all out. If you are a boat fanatic, there will be a myriad of classic boats and long boats to admire plus Dragon boat demonstrations.
Take in the Antique Boat Show and Parade, eat some great local food and enjoy some fantastic live music. There will be four superb musical acts headlining the main stage for this year’s evening concerts, which are ticketed events. Be sure to catch one or enjoy them all if you are up for it! Taking the stage will be Umphrey’s McGee, The Offspring with Bad Religion, Pennywise and The Vandals, The Avett Brothers, and Buddy Guy. This festival truly offers something for everyone and gives you a chance to experience all that the vibrant community of Burlington has to offer.
