Like a home away from home, this is the place to reconnect with friends and family, disconnect from the world, and start new traditions.

The Main House of our Middlebury, Vermont inn is the most historic of our accommodations.  This Federal-style mansion with all the hospitable elegance you would expect in a governor's home - marble sinks, crystal doorknobs, push-button light switches, and a fascinating collection of nooks and crannies is the perfect alternative to hotel lodging.

The Swift Room, once the master bedroom, still displays the old brass internal telephone that Mrs. Swift used in Woodrow Wilson's day.  Other rooms in the Main House include the Addison, Battell, Clark, Emma Willard, Garden, Governor’s, Seymour, and Stewart.

Our inn is the only Middlebury accommodation that still includes a full breakfast with your room rate.  This hearty meal consists of your choice of several savory and sweet entrees cooked to order. These are complemented by a cold buffet with a choice of cereal, baked items, yogurts, fresh fruit, and always the Swift House Inn granola.
